Lewiston Parks and Recreation will be offering Skate Skills Camps. This camp requires skateboard, knee pads, elbow pads, helmet, and wrist guards. Local skateboarder and instructor Kris Johnson will conduct a basic introduction and skills in skateboarding. Limited to the first 7 participants per session. All proceeds from this camp go to the Mtn Dew Skate Park Fund. Grinders (Beginners) For the individual with little or no skateboarding experience. This camp will teach proper foot position and balancing skills, as well as techniques for basic flat land riding, pushing (pumping), turning, carving, and stopping. Proper usage of skateboard equipment (helmets & pads) will be discussed. This is the foundation for all other types of skateboard riding. Ages: 5-12
League of American Bicyclists Certified Instructor Corrie Rosetti will take you through the basics of understanding your bicycle, equipment, gearing, fitness, everyday maintenance and the rules of the road. Those who complete this nine hour course will gain greater confidence in riding their bikes for transportation and recreation, a glossy full color text, and a certificate from the League of American Cyclists. Participants spend three hours in class on Tuesday evening followed by two more on Saturday before the group heads out to the parking lot for skill drills and on to the streets for a road ride of 7 to 10 miles. Class limited to the first 10 participants. Equipment required: A bike in good working order and a helmet.
Tai Chi can result in better balance, relaxation, a stronger immune system, and a sense of serenity and well-being. Wear comfortable clothing and heavy socks or light-soled slippers. A minimum of six participants is required to hold the class.

Fear no puncture weed! Are you hesitant to ride your bike without that friend or spouse who always fixes your flats. League of American Bicyclists instructor Corrie Rosetti will empower with this class. The class covers basic cleaning and inspection of your bike, practice in removing and remounting that difficult rear wheel, and finally finding, fixing, and replacing that punctured tube without tools. Class limited to the first 5 participants. Equipment required: A bike in good working order. Tire levers suggested; tubes, patches, optional.
This is a once in a life time opportunity! Tom Eier and Jim Jameson will be instructing participants the elements on constructing and restoring a traditional dugout canoe, much like that used by Lewis and Clark. Tom and Jim will use the canoe (built by Tom’s son Scott) located at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center. Traditional canoe making tools will be used. Class will end with a ride in the restored canoe! Tools are very sharp, extreme caution must be exercised. Entrance into Hells Gate State Park is apart of the class fee.

Pat Bowen teaches the general causes of depression and gives practical steps to turning our sadness's and depression caused by our reactions to our life experiences into joy and happiness. She combines her life transforming coaching skills with her skills as a recreation director of many years into a fun approximately 3 hr. what she calls a “Playshop”. She is available for any age group but is focusing on the golden agers right now. She teaches that the golden years really can be Golden. This Playshop will leave you uplifted, at peace and determined to be the joyful person you were created to be. Come learn how to be a happy kid again.

Spend a Saturday with a true ladies afternoon out! This annual event is not just for Mom, this is an amazing opportunity to spend time with all the women in life, Moms, Grandmas, Sisters, and Aunts. Refreshments will be served and entertainment will be provided. (Participants must pre-register due to food and refreshment order.)
The 11th Annual Northwest Regional Summit on Youth is an event is for area high school 9th – 12th graders focused on leadership. So, get on board and be inspired to lead everyday! This event is limited to the first 100 pre-registered.
Mark your calendar today for another edition of this traditional valley fun run for the 35th annual Seaport River Run. Registration forms will be available throughout town after March 1st. Plan to participate in the run and all the associated Dogwood Festival Events. Participants that register late and pay for a t-shirt are not guaranteed a shirt race day.
It’s spring cleaning time everyone! Lewiston Parks and Recreation will host a Community Yard Sale. We are looking for individuals who want to sell gently used items they no longer use such as: toys, children’s clothing, tools, furniture, sports equipment, etc. Cost is $10 per 12’ x 4’ space which includes an 8’x 3’ table if needed. This is truly a yard sale and not a craft or jewelry sale.

Instructor Judy Parry will be offering a five week mini course including classes in crafts, clay, drawing, and watercolor. Class size is limited to the first 30. (The same art concepts are taught in each session but different projects are made.)

Mark your calendar for the nineteenth annual Jill Andrews Memorial Softball Clinic. JAM, in memory of Jill who loved and excelled in the sport of softball, is an opportunity for girls to learn the basic fundamentals of the game in a fun and festive atmosphere. Area women who have played softball serve as the clinicians for the training sessions and they stress skills, techniques, fun and sportsmanship. This all day clinic includes lunch, T-shirt and picture for each participant. Registration is limited to the first 100 paid participants.

We will conduct a very basic introduction of skills in Basketball, Soccer, and Baseball/Softball. The child and parent will learn age appropriate skills and games at 5 stations to help breakdown specific skills for each child. Do you think that walking a marathon is entirely out of your reach? Over a period of one month, your cumulative mileage can add up quickly to 26.4 miles and earn you your very own Marathon T-Shirt. Sponsored by Lewiston Parks and Recreation Department and Washington Idaho Volunteer Program, this event is a fun and healthy way to kick off your spring fitness program and enjoy the mini pathways of the Lewis-Clark Valley. This can also help prepare you to participate in the annual Seaport River Run/Walk or North Idaho Senior Games (if you wish). We will supply you with a calendar to keep track of your miles, and mileage maps of parks and other areas around the Valley where you can collect your marathon miles. Learn from professionals how to prepare, what to wear, how to avoid injury and more. f you are interested in an Ultra Marathon (150 miles over a three month period), this will also be available to you.
