Born in Spokane, WA, but raised in Orofino and Lewiston. Ged graduated from Lewiston High School in 1968. Because of an accident while working in the woods, he didn't begin college until later. He worked summers fighting forest fires to pay for his college and graduated with a degree in Psychology from the U of I. After graduation, Ged moved his wife and kids to Lewiston, where he worked as a firefighter for Potlatch Corporation for 27 years. During this time he was secretary for his local (UPIU 712) and on the paper and tissue central safety committees. After he retired from Potlatch in 2002, he went to work for Opportunities Unlimited and became a supervisor. Ged met his current wife online. He kidnapped her, two cats, and a dog from Florida and brought them to Lewiston where he and Nancy Kay were married on a boat at the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers.
