The City of Lewiston offers an integrated solid waste management system consisting of single stream recycling, waste reuse, waste collection, and waste disposal. The system provides for safe and reliable solid waste services at competitive prices for residential and commercial customers.

Single stream recycling, yard waste, and solid waste collection services are contracted through Sunshine Disposal & Recycling, Inc. They use semi-automated and fully-automated collection vehicles.  The automated services are shown below.

Residential and commercial customers eligible for mobile cart service may choose from a 32-, 64-, or 96-gallon cart service. Sunshine owns the mobile cart; however, customers may purchase and use their own cart as long as it is compatible with Sunshine's collection equipment.

The Lewiston City Council establishes the rates for mobile carts and all sanitation services. The residential rates for mobile carts include single stream recycling, yard waste collection, and garbage collection.  Commercial rates for mobile carts do not include single stream recycling and yard waste collection but commercial customers can subscribe to both by contacting Sunshine Disposal at (208) 743-4075.
