Welcome! The Lewiston Fire Department has been your partner in public safety for more than 130 years. Over that time, we have evolved as an agency that provides for fire suppression, fire prevention, code enforcement, EMS rescue, extrication, aircraft rescue and firefighting, hazardous materials response, and public education.
All of these services enable us to serve the overriding interests of protecting the personal safety and property of our community. Looking out for one another is what makes Lewiston such a great place to live.
It is my personal belief that you have expectations of the Fire Department. That is why we impress upon our personnel the importance of our mission statement.
Mission Statement We will respond to each call with Courage, Conviction, and Compassion. These three words form the foundation on which we base our response.
Courage reveals the hidden potential of the firefighter. He or she must, in that defining moment, focus wholly upon the challenge presenting itself to effect the most successful outcome. There is no room for fear or indecision.
Conviction is the fierce belief that, no matter the circumstance, the firefighter's participation will eliminate all opportunity for failure.
Compassion is attuned to the frailty of life and the tragedies that can accompany it. The firefighter's response is rooted in countering that frailty with a concern that isn't just tangibly felt, but overwhelmingly cherished.
By basing our response on these three areas, we believe that we will deliver the best service at the best time for when you need us most. Enjoy the website and remember, don't hesitate to call us.
