RJ is from Texas, but has always had a strong desire to live in the Northwest. In 2009 he met his wife, Valerie, a graduate of the University of Idaho, who was born and raised in Lewiston. After they were married in November 2010, RJ was able to persuade her to move back to her hometown of Lewiston in August 2011. Valerie’s father, Gary Gibler, a former Chemist for more than 30 years at Potlatch Corporation, served as RJ’s Treasurer during his campaign for Lewiston City Council. Her mother, Melanie Gibler, was the secretary for Congregational Presbyterian Church for over 20 years. The Giblers and Johnsons both now attend services at Congregational Presbyterian where Valerie serves as an Elder on the Stewardship Committee.
RJ works as a computer programmer for Pathologists’ Regional Laboratory, and Valerie is a Science teacher for Cornerstone Christian School. They both own several rental properties in Lewiston, and recently started their own property management company.
Before moving to Idaho, RJ worked for several years as a computer security technician for a Fortune 500 company, and before that as a desktop support analyst for an energy company. He is also an Eagle Scout of the Boy Scouts of America, and thoroughly enjoys serving his community. He loves participating in the various recreational activities that the great State of Idaho has to offer, and is open-minded to listening to any concerns the citizens of Lewiston may have regarding the future of Idaho’s first territorial capital.
