Vacation Leave
Employees are eligible to use vacation after it has been accrued and is earned as follows:

The maximum vacation accrual is two times the annual leave earned.
Sick Leave
Employees are eligible to use sick leave once it has been accrued. Sick leave is accrued at a rate of 8 hours per month (24 hours per month for firefighters), as long as the employee has worked or used authorized leave for at least ten working days in that month. Maximum accumulation is 960 hours or 2,160 for firefighters.
If an employee separates in good standing after five years of service, 25% of the employee’s sick leave balance is paid out into an HRA VEBA account. If retiring (PERSI), 35% of the employee’s sick leave balance is paid into an HRA VEBA account.
