Public Health Emergency Order No. 20-10 is hereby approved and ordered by the Lewiston City Council on November 19, 2020, and issued by the City Manager for implementation on November 21, 2020.
Specifically, this order requires:
- every person in the City of Lewiston, when in a *public place, to maintain at least six-foot physical distancing from non-**household members, whenever possible; and
- for every person in the City of Lewiston to wear a ***face covering when in any indoor or outdoor public place where six-foot physical distancing is not able to be maintained with non-household members.
This order is for individuals, with the expectation that businesses will encourage and facilitate compliance.
The City Council encourages everyone to review these fact sheets (.pdf) and allow businesses and/or any other establishments that are open to members of the public to use these documents in providing education to their employees, customers, and visitors.

*public place: any place open to all members of public without specific invitation, including, but not limited to, retail business establishments; restaurants; bars; government offices; medical, educational, arts, and recreational institutions; and public transportation, including public buses, taxi cabs, ridesharing vehicles; City of Lewiston parks; and other outdoor public spaces.
**household members: people who reside in the same residence, regardless of familial relation, and those who enter a residence to provide a caretaking function.
***face covering: a cloth, paper, or disposable face covering that completely covers a person’s mouth and nose; or a clear, plastic face shield that covers a person’s forehead, extends below the person’s chin, and wraps around the sides of a person’s face.
